Dear Friend,
CHANNAL (Consumers' Health Awareness Network of Newfoundland And Labrador) is a provincial organization that exists to build and strengthen a self-help network among individuals who live with mental health issues. CHANNAL's aim is to combat isolation for those living with mental health issues, to provide a forum for mental health consumer/survivor's concerns, to educate the public on issues relevant to mental health and mental illness and to provide advocacy, social and emotional support to mental health consumer/survivors.
Why should you join our organization? Because your voice is important!
Some of the benefits of becoming a member of CHANNAL:
- Experience enhanced opportunities to network with other consumer/survivors and consumer/survivor organizations across Newfoundland and Labrador as well as Canada and internationally, including access to the Link-Up (CHANNALs newsletter) which also gives members the opportunity and privilege of contributing ones own articles for publication;
- Eligible to vote on matters that govern CHANNAL from the election of members to the Board of Directors, the ratification of the by-laws and the policy and decision-making process of CHANNAL;
- Eligible to participate, access and enjoy increased sharing of information and knowledge. The exchange of important legislative and other related issues that can have an impact and affect consumer/survivor wellness. This helps contribute to building a strong, unified, provincial consumer/survivor voice which influences public policy at all levels within the province.
- Access to consumer/survivor focused resources and programs through mail-outs or by email or through this web site;
- Opportunities to become a change agent, including participation in lobbying and advocating potential and watchdog functions that CHANNAL provides;
Together we can make a difference by bridging the gulf of understanding.
